Well, it depends on who you ask.  If you ask our Mom's, we are the best kids in the world but of course we don't call or visit enough.  If you ask the neighbors, we are those crazy people down the street with the dogs.  If you ask Dave's kids, we are the ones that take them all over the world to dog shows, movies, and sightseeing.  If you ask some show people, we are the ones that show and breed those really great Havanese, Bichons, and Black Russians and spoil them rotten.  If you ask some other show people, well I guess it depends on who is holding the ribbons at the end of the day.

Love at the dog show...

Dave has been showing dogs since his teen years in Canada.  Starting with GSDs in obedience and moving on to conformation.  He went on to Bichons Frises, then Bouvier des Flandres, Chinese Crested and Portuguese Water Dogs.  With his first dogs, he realized that he had a knack for the show ring and loved it.  He has since gone on to BIS/BISS and numerous Group Wins and Placements in Canada, the USA and Mexico.  Darlene did not get involved in showing until her second Bichon Frise, Geneva, was about 2 1/2.  See Geneva's page for more details about that.  Darlene has shown dogs to BISS and multiple Group Placements.  She is still working toward her first BIS.  By the time Darlene had her 4th Bichon, Magic, Darlene lived near Kansas CIty, Missouri, USA and Dave lived near Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  Darlene had finished Magic in the US from the BBE class at a relatively young age and since he hadn't yet matured into a competitive specials dog, she wasn't sure what else to do with him.  He was too cute to shave him naked.  Several friends suggested taking him to Canada to get his Canadian Championship.  As an Air Traffic Controller, she couldn't get much time off of work so figured that this was not an option until someone suggested this great handler that they had hired to show their Bichon and Havanese in Canada.  Well, after being sent home early on September 11, 2001 since all air traffic was stopped, Darlene contacted Dave.  We talked and emailed, then decided that Darlene would bring Magic to Canada (we don't ship our dogs) and if she didn't like Dave or his house and if Dave didn't like Magic, she would return to Kansas CIty the next day with Magic in tow.  We got along well enough, he was extremely charming (as always), his house was OK, but he had this monstrous black dog (well, Brt was monstrous to a Bichon person).  As you have guessed, Magic stayed with Dave and together they went on to win Magic's Canadian, Mexican and FCI titles.

Then blah, blah, yadda, yadda, blah...

We fell in love, got married, will live happily ever after.

The End
